surprised there's no posts about the most recent episode of Doctor Who (hard writing about it with giving out too many spoilers)
real jaw dropping OMG episode - getting excited/anxious about part two tommorow.
My reaction after part one & the teaser trailer - quite possibly the best episode of Doctor Who ever (except some of the books)
It's based on one of the 90's New Adventures books -
Paul Cornell = genius
I need that book so I can see how they compare
David Tennent captured the idea perfectly - showed a whole new side to his character.
Martha was a bit too bolshy & obvious/suspicious about not belonging.
great scene where she tries to convince *someone* of the truth and they think she's failed to understand the concept of stories (because of her in their eyes primitive culture)
She's no Benny Somerfield.

I finally got around to watching these episodes...OMG!!! I wasn't expecting to enjoy them so much--I usually don't go for the whole amnesia thing. But I must say I truly LOVED David Tennant in these episodes--it showed a whole new side of his acting ability. He made a sweet little human. When he was deciding on whether or not to change back to the Doctor...he was so sad! It was really great to see that side of Tennant...because the Doctor never really gets scared, and when he's sad he pushes it down. But John Smith was so completely human and broken...it was one of the most beautiful pieces of acting that I've ever seen.

I didn't care too much for the first half of the double parter, but the second half really moved me, especially the ending.
I think my main biig problem with the story as a whole, as I have said in another thread, is that Martha has fallen for the Doctor too hard and too fast, and it feels like it was written for Rose. Rose's gradual falling for the Doctor was a nice thing to see and it was (mainly) handled fairly well. Martha just feels thrusted onto the Doctor and like the producers are using future storylines written for Rose, for Martha.
Also another thing that grates on me is that, for the most part, you get the idea that you haven't missed much in between episodes, there aren't many missed adventures, so Martha really hasn't been with the Doctor all that long before this story began, lets say, for argument's sake 3 months. Then she spends 3 months with John Smith, but is still absolutely convinced that she's in love with the Doctor, I just don't follow the logic myself.
Still, a really good ending to the episode IMO.

Sadly they are still not showing the new season of Dr. Who here in the states. Nobody seems to know when, or if, it will return. Our last episode was the one where Rose was reunited with her parents.

I personally think this episode was the most decent out of this series, as I think that so far, the Series has been a bit, dissappointing.

I haven't watched this episode yet--I wanted to wait for part two. But I'm excited-I think. Martha gets on my nerves sometimes, and these sorts of amensia episodes always get to me a little. And the scarecrows look scary. But other than that, I'm good. I think.
