Which choice would you make?

This is a question i have asked myself and many other mom's i know...now i want to know "Which choice would you make? Your driving through the neighborhood, on your way home from picking your child up from school, when suddenly, a young child runs out into the street to catch his ball. You only have a split second to make the biggest, most life altering decision you will ever be forced to make. You take a quick look around you while slamming on your brakes, and the only choices you have are to either, 1: Swirve off the road, and smash into a tree. or 2: Hit the child in the middle of the road. If you hit the tree, the impact will most definitely, kill your own child, but, if you don't you will kill someone elses child. You will survive this horrific accident, but who's life do you choose to spare? Could you live the rest of your life without your own precious baby, to spare another women the heartache of losing hers? Or would you spare your own childs life, knowing that the mother of that child will have a lifetime of misery, because of the decision that you made? I know this question seems like I don't care, but, I do care, and I have asked myself this very same question, I will let you all know my awnser after I get a few responses on this. Thank You.

I would certainly swerve off the road, it would be my instinctive decision. Fortunately my kids have car seats in the car so would most likely survive a crash whereas an unprotected child in the street wouldn't survive at all.

I like your awnser, my kids too have car seats, but the point of the question, had to be that your child would not survive the crash. I also would swerve off the road, i feel that, it would be easier for me to live knowing that, i did not kill someone elses baby. The thought of this question is hard to take I know, but I was driving down the road one day, and almost had to follow through with this decision, thats when i began to ask everyone else what they would do.

My child would be my first priority. If my child would not survive, I would not swerve and hit the tree. I know that sounds selfish and probably wrong, but thats my personal feeling. But, then again, if it was my child running to the street, and someone else had to make that decision......wow......this question is a HARD one.......Wow.
