Pet Food Recall Punishment

I was laying on the couch with the radio on and the hosts were talking about the pet food recall. I wasn't really listening, it was just background noise for me. But all of a sudden they were talking about a man getting executed! And it sounded like it was the same story! I was upset that so many pets died because of someone's mistake, but I don't think it justifies a man being executed for it! Has anyone else heard anything like this???
