I love the movie Equilibrium. I think it is awesome. But whenever I watch it something always bothers me. The people supposibly don't have emotion in this movie, I'm talking specifically about Christain's Bale character for my "complaint." During the movie he flashes back to when his wife is taken from their home because she stopped taking the medicine that takes away emotion. When the police break in and grab her Christain Bale's character reacts without hesitation and protects his wife by fighting the "police." I always say that there is no way he would protect her with so much force without caring for her. Anyone agree with me? You can see that clip I am talking about in this music video. Watch the whole thing if you want, it's really good, but the clip I'm talking about is at 2:28 through 3:05. Also look at the look on his face when he's looking at her...you can't tell me there's nothing there!

Now it's my turn to interpret that moment :P The emotion caught on Preston's face isn't love, it's dsiappointment. The thing is... They are a military society. Now, even without the Prozium pills, people in societies structured like this, are very confused, and don't have the same moral standards. Now, adding the pills to the picture, it messes everything up. Taking the pills, takes away the emotions, but it doesn't take away the ability to think, and the ultimate question....... ¨WHY?!¨ This is the exact thing you see on Prestons face. ¨WHY did the troopers march in my home? There are no sense offenders here!¨ and when finding out the truth: ¨WHY did she stop taking Prozium? WHY did she betray everything I work and stand for?¨ Hope you're satisfied with my answer to this one as well :P

Wow...you blow my mind! lol. That all makes a lot of sense! But, I'm not sure if I misread something somewhere. Did you exaplin the look on his face just before the men stormed into his house? When he and his wife are looking at eachother? Does that go with the 'why' thing too? Or something else that's brilliant you can come up with? lol. Thanks for a great response!

I explained both =) The ¨WHY did the troopers march in my home? There are no sense offenders here!¨ is the question and the deadly reactions Preston did when they broke into his place. And the ¨WHY did she stop taking Prozium? WHY did she betray everything I work and stand for?¨ is related to the look he gave to his wife. It was a look of disappointment, which is also a feeling, but it is more of a mental disappointment. It's all in the eye of the beholder =) You can twist and turn the story all around, but I could always take a side and defend it with my versions of facts. But the thing is, I want to percieve the movie as a masterpiece, thus giving ¨facts¨ to it's benefit. =))))

I love this movie Equilibrium. What made me like this film is the story. It is very unique and the genre is unusual. In case this will happen in real life I will not agree because I want to love and be loved. I a now a family woman and I love my husband and son so much. I wish that the "Prozium" the medicine invented by the people there will be changed into a liquid that only kills emotions like anger, envy, hatred and jealousy. I wish that the world will be a better place to live in. The imagination of the writer of this film is so wild and wide.

Yeah, it is a really good movie--I love the story too. That would be nice if something could be invented to take away all the bad emotions and feelings...except sadness. I think we should still be able to feel sadness--I think that emotion is vital, even if it's unpleasant.
