How Much Do You Need Cooling On A Computer?

I'm building a simple gaming rig for someone and I'm wondering how much I should invest as far as cooling equipment goes. Does anyone have any experience with water-cooling? I really do not want to have a leaky mess of a computer.

Cooling is more about efficiency than equipment. My case has three fans and runs super cool due to a very efficient design. First, make sure you get a high quality case made of either steel or aluminum. Plastic cases are not as cool. Aluminum is lighter and better at reducing the temps, but it can also be more flimsy. Next, check how many fans the case has or can have, where they are located, and what size they are. My case has a 120mm fan in the front, and a 120mm fan in the back. It came with a cone in the side to funnel air to the CPU, but I switched it out with a 60mm fan to blow more air on the video card (the only heat issue in my machine). Finally, make sure you keep wires out of the way. If wires block airflow, your computer will not stay as cool. Many power supplies come with ties to help keep the wires safe and out of the way. Modern CPUs run very cool. My Athlon64 X2 3800 idles at around 29 degrees with stock cooling. Video cards however keep getting hotter. As I type this my 6800GT is idling at 65 degrees while the rest of my system has an average temp of 35 degrees. When choosing a video card, I recommend a two slot card with a massive fan on it. The faster your card, the hotter it will get. You can get an aftermarket cooler for the video card, but sometimes that voids the warranty.

Before I buy a couple of cooling fan my computer is like a stove like it is on fire because I shared folder to my other friends and it make my computer is on 24/7.After I installed cooling fans,it a lot cool and I didnt turn off my computer for a month.I think it depend on what work you do?And purpose for?Is it necessary?
