grandmas battle

My friend has been trying to get her grandaughter from the state of indiana child servises since the day she was born. her daughter is in jail for drug charges and attending a rehab program. the grandma is completely clean and has a nursery all set up for the baby also she has papers signed by her daughter the day the baby was born for her mom to have tempory custody of it as of yet she hasnt gotten the baby and its over a month old children services went to court last week and saw the papers that my friend has been telling them about and they claim they new nothing of them also they claim that they tryed to notify relatives to take the baby and found none my friend is thinking of filing charges but scared to in case they hold the baby till all is settled cause right now more or less child services stole the baby from her she has been so upset over all of this eery test the child services has done to the grandma has came back clean home study fine financially stable and all and still they are holding the baby anyone had this problem of know of someone that has I need help open to any suggestions

I would think that there would be a lot of red tape involved. Since they will give the mother a chance to clean up, they may just keep the baby in foster care, in state, rather than move her around so much.

I would advise my friend to seek the assistance of an attorney....she needs to know her legal rights and they are the best ones to provide her with this information...many lawyers will give a free consultation to see if their services are warranted....then many also will take a payment plan to ease with the financial burden.... I do not think that the state is waiting to see if her daughter can clean up....she is in jail...that is ridiculous.....the daughter wants her mother to have the baby and the state has found no valid reason why she should not....tell her to stop messing with them and seek professional help...this is serious..this is her grandchild...she should already have received physical custody of this baby....not have worried her self sick for the past month... Having a child in jail is hard enough....I truly empathize with her plight.... Good luck with this situation and I will add your friend to my prayer list for guidance and a happy ending to this nightmare....
