do you like it when musicians revive your favourite song?

or make a version of their own?! i think its quite nice of them by making songs sound nicer or make their own version of some songs. My dad really hates it when he hears his favorite song made into a punk rock type of version and he gets irritated that once was his love song and now made into a hyper fast pace song. Old people never seem to get over old stuff:) it seems they are just stuck there.

Well as the person above me said, it really depends. I too like these songs if they are done properly or if they are done with a little twist to them. Like the song "riders on the storm" by the doors. When Snoop Dogg remixed it for Need for speed 2, it was an awesome song. And it was the first time I heard it, I later heard the original, but realized that I like both the versions equally, because it's a good remake.
But another example, is "iris" by the googoo dolls. What a wonderful song. It's one of my all time favorites. But when Ronan Keating revived it, it was just lame. I hated his version and the way he did the song.
So it really depends on who revives the song, and how they do it. Just adding a few additional beats doesn't cut it.
And it's really got nothing to do with being old fashioned, not all songs can be revived into good fast paced ones. Only some.

It all depends on if the remake of the song is good or not, for example, I am a HUGE fan of Goldfinger and love most of their cover songs:)

Well, I am not old (I'm 22), and I usually prefer the original, to a cover. However, there have been a few covers I liked better. For example, I can't recall hearing Marilyn Manson re-do a song, where I didn't really like his version of it. Some artists have the talent, and some don't.

I am siding with your dad. I am sick of these modern bands redoing songs in such a way that it's not even recognizable. It doesn't mean us "old folks" are stuck on old stuff ,a lot of us dont' mind having songs redone,we just get mad when these bands ruin songs by making them unrecognizable

For me,it also depends upon the singer and how the singer revived the song. I sometimes liked the revived version than the original or vise versa. It also depends upon my hearing.

it depends on how good they make it sound sometimes you listen to them and belive they have just ruined the song. Other times you think that sounds great but still love the original.
