This story of how a teenage boy and his little sister, who lost their parents in the wartorn Japan during WW2, tried their means and ways to survive. It's a semi-autobiography by Nosaka Akiyuki. It's very moving and touching..which is why in my previous post..I wrote..this is the only animated movie which made me cry? It's a very mature and serious animated movie..

I saw this movie under the title, "Grave of the Fireflies," and it is one of the saddest films I've seen. I agree that is a very moving and touching film.

I recommend you watch other Hayao Miyazaki films like "Mononoke Hime", "Laputa", "Spirited Away" and "My Neighbor Totoro". Miyazaki's films are all great and it's impossible not to like even one of them ^_^

I loved "Grave of the Fireflies", the name it was released under. It was a really touching story and I'm sure anyone who watched it felt deeply touched in one way or another. It's setting is perfect for the theme and the lessons to be learned from this movie: love, family, strength and survival.. People can learn a lot from this movie ^_^

We watched it in class as part of our Japanese History. All my classmates were crying at the end of the movie.

You know..the first time I saw the movie..I actually got affected by it for a couple of days..and I went to do a literature search for this movie in the web to fully capture the essence of the story..and it was in the web that I realised that this anime is actually a semi-autobiography and not entirely fictional.
