could you give me an example of positive approach?

hi.. just now i watched a movie.. in that movie a man attends an interview and he is asked an example for positive approach. his answer was "if a man stands before a sea watching the horizon and believes that the world ends near the horizon then it is a negative approach. where as if the man turns back seeing the land and believes that the world starts from that point then it is a positive approach" my god !! it was mind blowing.. though it was a movie, his answer was very true.. could you give any such examples of positive approach other than this.. the best answer will be marked the best. :)
