Sometimes when I'm really tired or really busy, and my daughter is asking for something, I'll tell her theres no more, or it's broken. Bad huh? Please tell me someone else does this?

Think of it as future tense truth. At some point, the item will be broken, right? Tonight, I told my daughter that she needed to get out of the tub, so that we could go to the kitchen and get her some cheesy bread, before the cat ate it all. Of course the cat doesn't eat cheesy bread. She doesn't know that. But, it got her out of the tub.
