Killing Our Pets Was Bad Enough - Now They Are Trying To Kill Us Too!

On March 15, the Food and Drug Administration learned that certain pet foods were sickening and killing cats and dogs. FDA found contaminants in vegetable proteins imported into the United States from China and used as ingredients in pet food. As if that wasn't bad enough, now they are exporting toothpaste containing a deadly chemical to the United States. This so called "Global Economy" is goint to kill us financially by importing goods from countries paying there workers slave wages or either by selling us products that are up to the standards that we are used to. What is your opinion on this discussion? Are you going to reconsider before buying a Chineese product for consumption. You won't catch me consuming anything from China until I am 100% sure that it's safe. And as of now I'm not sure of that. Here's the story. The government warned consumers on Friday to avoid using toothpaste made in China because it may contain a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze. The Food and Drug Administration said, people should throw away toothpaste with labeling that says it was made in China. The FDA is concerned that these products may contain diethylene glycol. The antifreeze ingredient was found in a shipment at the U.S. border and at two retail stores: a Dollar Plus store in Miami and a Todo A Peso store in Puerto Rico. The ingredient in question, called DEG, is used as a lower-cost sweetener and thickening agent. "It does not belong in toothpaste even in small concentrations," said the FDA's Deborah M. Autor. The agency is particularly concerned about chronic exposure to DEG in children and in people with kidney or liver disease. Most recently, a cough syrup containing DEG resulted in more than 40 deaths in Panama last September. China's food safety problems have in recent months become a matter of international concern. What do you think about consuming Chineese products now? Lloyd

Thanks for posting this- I haven't heard about this one yet. I will for sure avoid anything imported from China for both myself and my pets until there comes a time where they are taking responsibility for and being accountable for what they are manufacturing and exporting. Saving money on production costs is great, but not at the expense of life. At least in the U.S. we have the FDA looking out for us. Just think of the poor people in the world, or even in China itself, who are being exposed to these chemicals and poisons because the manufacturers are greedy and lazy. I already boycott products from France (for political reasons); now I'll have to add China to the list, also!

This is quite interesting and in reality, nothing really surprizes me anymore. I am not sure who is really in charge when it comes to making sure the Foods are safe for humans or Pets, and sometimes you hear of Pet food getting mixed up as human food even. It is sad that there is not more control over these types of things to save us a lot of headaches, and possible Deaths in the process. I am sure it would be cheaper.

This is all the result of the fast track to this so called "Global Economy". It's all about getting cheap products regardless of the consequences. Please read the label before you consume anything and stay away from products from China. Lloyd

I'm suprised that I haven't heard anything on our news as of yet here about the toothpaste...But if this is true, which I don't doubt you a bit, I'm going to look at my son's cough syrups and our toothpastes and throw out what we have from China...I'm also going to make sure we don't buy any products coming from there. Thanks for the info, Lloyd.

Another reason the president should be very careful of all the shipments of good he receives from China and other countries.Who know maybe they are trying to kill us but in concealing ways.I for one think that we should mostly get our stuff from the US.Start up jobs that manufacture stuff like toothpaste for one in the US.More jobs for people in the US.I for one will be examining my toothpaste and being more careful of stuff I buy that say made in China.

I agree with you. China seems to have this inferiority complex when it come to the United States. They are a growing superpower and I see no need to take any shortcuts in acheiving their goals. Until they can prove that they are up to par in regards to their manufacturing standards, I think we should all be a little leary. It is time to reinvest in our economy by bringing back our manufacturing jobs. We've lost too many to China, Mexico and other low wage economies. There's no reason why we can't make our own toothpaste. Thanks for your reply. Lloyd

I have read all about this stuff. I think because we have our own priorities that are not necessarily the same as other countries and cultures, when I come to items we ingest or that present a safety issue, we should stick to the USA. Quite awhile back I bought a dish set for eating at a very good price from China. Now I wish I had not bought it. How do you really know it is safe? Maybe they did not put it in the kiln long enough? On top of that, China beats dogs for fun. They feed zoo animals live dogs for food. I refuse to buy anything from China now.

It seems like we are hearing more and more about bad products coming out of China. I'd be very learing about consuming any food product or medicine imported from China. The FDA issued an alert telling people to just throw away any toothpaste made in China. I never heard the stories about the treatment of dogs in China. It sounds pretty barbaric. Lloyd

Not only toothpaste but they are also recalling a couple of diabetic prescription meds and I take one of them. I don't have diabetes but I am on the meds because I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome which could lead to diabetes. I found out last night when my mom said she seen it on the news. The med is called Actos and I have quit taking it because they said it is causing heart failure. I know this has nothing to do with the toothpaste recall but it is pretty messed up that now our own medication can kill us. I believe they said the toothpaste that has been recalled was Crest? I'm pretty sure that is what my mom told me and we use Crest. Luckily my toothpaste says it is from Cinncinati. I will no longer use anything if I see it says made in China. Another thing my mom said she seen on the news is they are now recalling the dog food "Ole Roy." This is the dog food I feed my animals. She told me what numbers to look for and thankfully the numbers on my dog food doesn't match up. They are trying to kill us off anyway they can and it is so scary. We have to watch what we eat, feed our dogs, watch what meds we take, and now watch what toothpaste we use. It is ridiculous! I don't watch t.v much because I don't have a t.v in where my computer is but once we get another satellite receiver to put in here I will be keeping a better eye on the news. I really hate watching the news anymore though because it is almost always bad news and I hate hearing about it.
