Entrying charts of accounts

I'm having problem with entrying transactions into specific accounts that i've created. I created accounts for clients, i enter the trasactions crediting the clients' accounts and debiting my cash. But when i try to print out the reports, i dont get what i want. Some transactions that i recieved money for are placed in brackets in the report. I understand that brackets mean a negative balance but i want it to be a positive balance. Then do i record money recieved from transactions as cash receipts or as income for specific services that we offer?I need assistance with that please. My country's tax system doesnt correspond with that of the USA, so i find it difficult using the payroll system of peachtree. How can i overcome this?
