Would you eat them or keep them....?

gift - beautiful gift displays.

If you recieved a beautiful display of chocolates and flowers would you eat the chocolates or keep the display looking as beautiful for as long as you could? Would you let the flowers keep blooming until they eventually withered and died or would you preserve them forever? How do you dry flowers so that you can keep them forever and at what point should you do this? I was just wondering as I have had this discussion with my friends and everyone seems to do different things.

Hello, mummyyouthree,I am a chocolate lover,if i receive a box of chocolates which is the brand i like,I will finish them all by myself,I will not share to other people:P. I am too selfish to share chocolates with others.haha. I am not a flower lover,i may just keep the flowers before they wilt,i will try to preserve them with water so that they can last longer.I think you cannot keep the flowers forever as they will wither one day at last.

Hi there, Usually when I recieve a beautiful display of anything, wether it be chocolate or flowers, I like to keep on display and save for as long as I can, until the children see it lol...

If I received such a beautiful display, I will let it stand and admire it for several days, as long as the flowers can remain fresh and the chocolates do not spoil or melt. They before I dismantle it and devour the chocolates, I will take a digital picture of the display and keep it for rememberance. I will take a step further and email the person who sent me the gift with an attachment of the display, thanking the person for the gift. If the giver had requested a floral or gift shop to deliver the gift, he/she probably wouldn't have seen the gift himself/herself, so I think this gesture will be appreciated.

I think that preserving the chocolates is a total waste, no matter how beautiful it was crafted. Why preserve what your taste bud and stomach would appreciate more :D Also I do not think that preserving flowers is worth the effort. You can always buy the same flowers anytime from your dependable neighborhood flower boutique. And if it's the style and or arrangement you want, you may always specify it to the store keeper. :D

at first i will just leave the chocolates for maybe 12 hours for decoration then after that i will eat them and share them with my family! because as we all know chocolates are for eating and not for displaying! because if chocolates are only for display then they could make a plastic thing that just looks like a chocolate so that it could be displayed nicely! and on flowers? for me, i dont want them to keep on dying and just throw them on the waste can after! i will keep those flowers by pressing on them and preserving them! for me its the best thing to do!

With chocolates, I would definitely eat them. There is no point in trying to keep them. With flowers, I display them i a vase until they die. It is a bit hard to preserve them. As far as I know, you can collect the flowers, leaves & stems, put them betwween psages in a book, with a lot of heavy books on top of it. After a few weeks they will be dry & preserved. But to do this, you would have to pull the flowers apart not long after you receive them. Not much point to that either.

I have a really good digital camera...so I would take several photos...from different angles...making a collage would be great fun! Then, since I do not eat much chocolate...I am sure that my 5 yr. old. and grandchildren would enjoy them very much....LOL The flowers I would keep fresh as possible...perhaps a week or so...then I would make potpourri out of it...I gently pull the petals off and put them in a small wicker basket...and let them dry all the while continuing to provide a wonderful fragrance for a few months.

Hello???? It is chocolate we are talking about! I would eat them right up, especially if they are Godiva. The flowers I would dry and keep.

I will keep them for a while because they are beautiful, then eat the chocolate. I let the flower in the water vase until it dry then hardly thrown it away. I just keep the card.

Theres this time my ex boyfriend gave me chocolates and flowers and boy that was my favorite chocolate! I thought I shouldn't eat it but hey, can't resist! Though it really looks beautiful to display it on my room. :D I usually preserve the flowers, any kind of flowers that has been given to me.

Good questions. I don't care how beautifully chocolate comes wrapped. It could be done in the finest silk and finery, but once I get the chocolate craving going on which is normally every ten minutes, I promise to take the silk and make something else with it, but the chocolate doesn't stand a chance. As for the flowers if they were cut flowers, I would try to preserve them as long as I could, but have not found any drying method to date that ensures they maintain their color. If they were flowers which I could replant, then absolutely I would. Often times you a gift of chocolate or any other comes with some other little momento that you can save along with other items that you scrapbook or as I suggested previously perhaps you could use it in yet another floral arrangement.

Chocolates are for eating and flowers for looking. Eat the choclates and return the empty box into the display if that will satisfy you. :-)

i will eat the chocolates and keep the flowers. I won't display the chocolates because ants would rapidly race to eat it. I ould use the dried flowers for my scrapbook or other crafts where i could make use of it.

I'm pretty bad at trying to keep things as close to the original display as possible, especially when it comes to things like flowers and candy. However, I'm too much of a sucker for chocolate to keep them in their lovely box. I'd have to break into the chocolate almost straight away. I'd try to keep myself away from it for as long as I could, but I'd eventually break down and get some anyway.

I will keep them for a week, and then eat them. I could control myself for only a week , I think. it is hard to keep a good food only for show , only for looking. it is not a gift , it is a pubnish for me. I will not stand it . if someone don't like me, he can give me some good food, but I can't eat it, I think.

as i love sweets this will be an easy choice, LOL! i would eat it of course, no point in letting those chocolates go to waste by just displaying them right?:) as for the flowers, i would put them in a vase and then throw it away when they wither and die. i am not much at preserving flowers so i cannot share anything on how to keep flowers forever:)
