I read this in some childrens magazine some time back. When the French navigators brought home tea leaves from China for the first time nobody knew how to prepare it. The kichen maids cooked the leaves and served it in plates on the table and the left over water (the real tea) was drunk by the maids. I am not sure if it is true or not.
People drink tea in various forms. Drinking it with some sugar and milk is a very popular way. However some prefer it without milk. People having diabetic complaint avoid sugar. The Arabs add some lemon juice to their tea and call it sulaimani.
I take tea without milk, but with a little sugar. I like sulaimani also.
Now, how do you prepare your tea?
With milk or without it?
With sugar or without it?
With sugar and milk or without them?
With lemon juice?

I am a coffee drinker as a rule, but of course I do have the ocassional cup of tea as a change.
My usual choice would be tea with milk but no sugar, although if I drink tea with lemon then I do add sugar.
It must be over a week since I last had a cup of tea, yet after reading this discussion I suddenly fancy a cup so it is time for me to put the kettle on.

I never used to add milk to tea but my mother-in-law always did and so one day I tried it and I liked it. I started using honey because it made me feel like I wasn't eating so much sugar. I know, it is probably just as bad as sugar but my mind refuses to accept that.

I am a purist. Green tea brewed so it is still greenish appeals to me. Some don't like it that way but I sure do. I cannot imagine anything being added. Lemon would be my least favorite. Good thing that it can appeal to many tastes and nationalities.

No lemon for me On my list of dislikes LOL SAme as jello
Me gram always said you needed added hot water to the tea pot to heat it up before making tea. Then it had to steep for at least 3 - 5 minutes Then and only then could it be drank She would a dribble of cream first to tea cup and then pour the tea.
She stated that mugs ruined the taste of the tea Fine china made it taste delicate and much more flavour To me it just tasted gross
Guess I had to many tea times with me gram LOl Poor soul I miss here

Your grandma used to make tea in a classic style I think. Even then you didn't like it. Actually avoiding tea and coffee is good for health, so have I read somewhere. It contains caffine which is a stimulant but not a possitive agent for health. So your habbit of avoiding it is good.
Thank you wendy for responding.

coffee and tea are both stimulants. they are both blockers, too. i believe that this is common knowledge already. anyway, i like my tea hot and prefer it served with lemon and some sugar to have that sweet taste.
