How long have you been engaged and how long of an engagement do you plan on having before you tie the knot? My fiance proposed on Christmas Eve 2005. I think the biggest pain in the fanny about being engaged is everyone asking when the date is. lol It'll be before this Fall, that is all we know. We will most likely just elope, that's just us.

I got engaged in May of 06, but I'm getting a real ring tomorrow. When he "proposed" he didn't put any thought into it at all and it really upset me, so we talked about it and he bought me a "proper" engagement ring and we're going to pick it up this weekend. Our wedding date is May 18, 2008. A bunch of thought and reasons went into that date, so yeah. We were together two years, then we'll have been engaged for 2 years when we get married.

Well, the important thing is that you weren't afraid to talk about your disappointment with him. Communication is key! I like how you planned the dates and all. :p CONGRATULATIONS GIRL!

Lol thanks! And congrats to you, too, I hope it all turns out perfectly! The two main reasons that went into the date decision are that my fiance is going to be a teacher, so I wanted a date that came close to the end of the school year so that we could go on annaversay trips if we ever wanted to. And secondly, I wouldn't get married before I turned 21, and my birthday is May 7.

hahhaha.... the significatn other and i have been engaged for about three months now. funny thing is, he did not actually propose. at least not like in the movies. we just talked about it and we planned to get married on the latter part of this year. maybe october or december. it's not going to be a grand wedding and i prefer it that way:P

Haha! "the significant other" LOL Sound like you're already married! But see? That's the beauty of being in the right relationship. It doesn't have to be all bling and glory. Simply, yes, we are getting married. What of it? LOL I prefer smaller weddings too and it's been a LONG time since I've been back to check this post. (packing and moving, etc) But I do have an update: After all the pushing from our families (more like shoving) and actually having the money to do it our own way finally, we have not set a date but rather a month. NExt month! We are going to Eureka Springs in Hillbilly Arkansas to the most beautiful (and possibly most haunted) hotel I've ever been to. (The Crescent Hotel) They have various wedding, anniversary, and honeymoon packages for very reasonable prices. We decided on a 2 day stay package that includes a small ceremony for up to 25 people in the gardens at the hotel. It includes someone to officiate the wedding, I think a bottle of champagne, and an hour each at their downstairs spa. Perfect for me. I think it'll be more memorable than any extravagant one could ever be. Now I just need to get one of my fellow photo students down to shoot it for free. :p

Wow! Congratulations in advance. I'm happy for you. Wish you all the best. Here's a toast for you: 'My greatest wish for the two of you is that through the years your love for each other will so deepen and grow, that years from now you will look back on this day, your wedding day, as the day you loved each other the least.' --Anonymous-- By the way, thanks for the BR...

My fiance proposed to me in late June of 2007, and we want to get married as soon as we can plan a nice affordable simple but unique wedding. We don't want anything too formal, or too casual either. We thought of eloping, and then we just decided that we would ignore all unsolicted advice and family drama, and do it OUR way!!!

Wow I do not think it is important for how long you been engaged before you tie the knot since the happeniess between you and your fiance is first thing. If you love each other very much you also can skip the process of engage. lol

I agree. People try too hard to be in charge of "what's important" when really love will do all that for you.

We were together for almost 3 years now and my fiance just proposed last December 2006... We plan to get married early next year... For me, its not on how long you've been engaged... what important is, it's still the two of you til the end...

Congratulations and way to hang in there! I think they either take their sweet time or don't waste any time at all! Either way, I am happy for you! It's obvious it's something you want very much. :p
