Funny thing about My Lot. You are more than welcome to talk about anything you want, (as long as you don't break the rules).
And, sometimes I think folks around here, just get talked out. I mean, how many times can you actually talk about your cats and kids without running out of material?
A couple minutes ago, I was surfing around the food section and found no less than four conversations on mayonnaise and mustard. Now, how tired do you have to be, to think that condiments are actually conversation starters?
Recipes? Yes! Kids and cats. Maybe. But, mayonnaise?
Don't get me wrong. I like condiments too. But, I'm not going to spend half an hour discussing them.
But, I guess some people are really into their food.

So how about a recipe for homemade mayonnaise?
2 egg yolks
1 cup salad (or other) oil
2 tb lemon juice or vinegar
salt and pepper
paprika (or other spices)
Beat egg yolks until slightly thick.
Add oil 1 tsp at a time while continuing beating, until 1/3 cup is used
Continue beating. It should be very thick and smooth -- if it is not you added oil too quickly or didn't beat hard enough.
Add the lemon juice or vinegar. Continue beating
* Some sources say if it gets too thick then add water.
Continue adding oil and juice or vinegar alternatively, always beating, until used up.
Add spices to taste (I have seen paprika, mustard seed, cayenne pepper, dijon mustard, ... it's all up to you.)
It was first made in 1756 by a French chef of the Duc de Richelieu for a feast celebrating the victory at Port Mahon. The chef wanted to prepare a sauce made with cream and eggs, but there was no cream in the kitchen, so he used olive oil.
See? A perfectly valid discussion, in my opinion. :)
Yes, I know there are discussions that start with "Do you prefer mayonaisse or mustard. I like mustard because (la di da di da)..." When I find an opportunity and/or inspiration I will answer such discussions by expanding on it, as I have done above. If it gets deleted later along with any earnings, it is no big deal to me. I still had the experience of writing a response, the best response that I can at the time, and the more I write the better I get.
