FASHION - Is It For The Wavering Minds ?

Fashion is good, as long as one does not over-indulge in it . Trendy cloths should be worn only if it suits the purse, the purpose and the person. Girls and boys in a frenzied effort to remain fit, starve or try out crash diets. This has proved fatal even to some leading models. Therefore, although fashion has its relevance, we should not allow the dictates of fashion to run the course of our lives.

Hey S794, You hit the mark w/ this discussion. The media has a negative affect on ppl b/c alot of them don't realize most of what they see isn't real- models & actors get taped up, air brushed & I'd be willing to bet atleast half of the skinny ones are coked-up.It sets up unrealistic expectations on real folks. +'s 2 U :D

Yeah, I would agree with that. Some people just over do it sometimes but I guess it isn't really their fault considering all the fashion that is out there.

Fashions are in the mind of those hooked on them. They cannot hide the true person underneath and can not bring anything permanent to a person. Trying to fit in is only the ego controlling its urge to be important in the eyes of others. The outside can never determine the inside. Those who constantly follow the latest fashions will never catch them. It is an endless cycle that the lost engage in. They are chasing their tails and going nowhere.

I believe that fashion is a personaly choice. I think you should always look into what looks good on you not what looks good on the person in the add. I also think that you should take into consideration what you can afford as well. I am not a fashionable person because I buy what looks good on me and that I like personally. I try to teach my daughter that what is in style maynot be something that looks good on her and they she needs see how things look on before spending a lot of money on something that really looks terrible.

You are so right. Some of the latest fashions and trends are not suitable for everyone. What looks good on one body might not look so good on the next. In fact, sometimes it looks downright horrible. I think that, no matter what the fashion/trend of the week is, people need to keep their senses about them when considering whether to try it or not.

i like browsing through fashion magazines and i do wear a couple of the "it" accessories or clothes every now and then. still, i have my own style and always remind myself that there are some clothes/styles that are just not for my body type :-)

I agree with you. We should not allow ourselves to be slave to fashion.

Whether its fashion or using gadgets and tools, I believe that functionality always comes ahead of aesthetics. I have a container box (dicky) attached to my mobike. My friends say that it looks ugly. Perhaps it does, but it is so convenient. And anytime when I go out with my friends, they have to give their stuff to me to keep it in the dicky. So, whats the wisdom in not having one because it doesn't look good? The same principle applies to clothings. You should wear good looking stuff, but the fit and the material should be comfortable.

I think each individual has their own version of fashion. I think the couture world, aims their clothing designs towards the anorexic models, and we as a people tend to see these media frenzies and want to be like that. We can't if we are realistic and realize that it is an impossibility. Just in general, I think each person has their own fashion tastes. I know I like to be flashy when I dress up, my friends are more conservative. I don't let the fashionista's dictate my tastes or look in clothing. I like to be an individual and be different!
