At some point in our lives someone has told us 'Money doesn't grow on trees' and the occasionally add 'ya' know?' to the end of the metaphorical phrase. What does this phrase mean to you? What are some experiences you can tell me about where someone has used this phrase? To me this phrase obviously implies that you have to stuyd and work for your money you can't just be lazy and go pick money of a tree, because it isn't that easy. Please reply and tell me what YOU think:-)

yes, it is common phrase in old people, but I think the money grow on Internet!, I don't find sense in phrases like that and don't like use them, but it obvious that unless you win the lotto you will not get money easy and you will have to work hard to get your things, but it is truth that some people get money more easy that other , I think the money would grow on tress if you have a farm so you would pick product that you can sell and get a money, I think it would be the origins of this phrase meaning that you have to do a lot of thing for get the money from these product and it is not just go and pick money of a tree.

Money does'nt grow on trees, a very logical saying. When it was my sister's wedding I compelled my husband to buy new clothes for myself, for kids. I wanted to wear new clothes on every ocassion. A heavy gold jewellery was next on the list. It was the time when my husband told me to speand wisely. Money does'nt grow on trees. After toiling the whole day u earn & it takes just a few minutes to spend it.

I am guilty of using this metaphore....usually when I have used it was when one of my children was requesting that I spend a large amount of money that my budget would not allow at the time...seeing the "disappointment" on their faces...they would usually hear.."Money doesn't grow on trees...but if you find one....be sure to tell me where".....LOL
