...through the dark, dark woods, there is a dark, dark house. In the dark, dark house, there is a dark, dark stair. Up the dark, dark stair, there is a dark, dark room. In the dark, dark room there is a dark dark cupboard. You open the cupboard, and what do you find inside?

Most kids like to be a little scared. I'd hate to say how many times my classes have begged me to do this over and over with them. It's kind of like adults enjoying a good scary movie or book.

Haha-I haven't heard that in the longest time! :D When my older sister used to tell it she'd go, "...and in the dark dark cupboard there was a dark dark....GHOOOOST!!!!"It was actually pretty startling! She'd change it up and say "...in the dark dark room there was a dark dark closet and in the dark dark closet there was a dark dark door and in the dark dark door there was a MONSTERRRR!!!!"AHHH!!!! :-D

I've heard that one as a kid, but I know it in dutch. We have it ending that in the cupboard there is a box and in the box is a GHOST! It's fun and children like to be a little scared, not very much but the halloween-type :P They like to shiffer while you tell a scary story but they musn't be scared anymore at night and be able to sleep; than you've done a good job. They must learn the difference between reality and fantasy, which is hard for small children but gets easier over the years.
