Do you have family traditions..things you family does faithfully on holidays or certain days of the year? What are some of them. Like when I was growing up ..it was tradition to sit down at thanksgiving dinner and have a whole spread of food out..

Traditions that before were common to everybody are dissapearing, so I consider them now as family traditions. For example, in December, before Christmas, we take out from a drawer the "pesebre" (little statues representing the Holy Child, Saint Mary, Saint Joseph, the three Wise Men, the shepherds and the animals that were at the place where Jesus was born) and we exhibit it at the living room, near the Christmas tree. I'm sure you must have seen it in Portugal.

We always spent xmas eve at my dads parents and xmas morning at my moms parents. We had dads side of the family dinner and moms side breakfast. Good memories. Easter we got a new dress and church shoes and we visited my grandparents friends house and the easter egg hunt. I had a family of 8 so Thanksgiving was done up with a huge spread. NOw that my family is in another state and there are only 5 of us 3 being very young, we don't carry on those traditions. Thanksgiving goes to waste, my boys don't care to dress up for Easter, and our family is far away.

We have many family traditions. My favorite is on Christmas Eve. We all go to my mothers house~ my family and my 3 sisters and their families. Everyone is there. There area total of 22 of us. We all bring food and drinks and my mother makes meatballs, sausage and homemade spighetti sauce. We pig out. We also exchange gifts. The adults all have picked a name and purchase a gift for that person. We all buy for the kids. We also all pick a name and purchase a gift from the dollar store for that person. It is such a fun time to celebrate with family.
