My cat has the need to feel like she needs to bathe me. She will lick me from to head to toe untill she feels that I am clean enough. I have also noticed that she does it to my three month old son also. Does your cat do this and why do they do it?

Your cat does this because she loves you! I've noticed cats won't clean other cats who they don't like. When my boy kitty ries to wash his mother or sister, they run away because they hate him. So, you should feel lucky that your kitty considers you and your baby part of her exclusive cat family.

Yeh, one of my cats does this to me too. It is a sign of affection and socializtion. Be honored. My other cat ignors me. Unless he wants food.

My cat does it with me, my son (14 mnths) and my husband all the time. And from what I can tell it's all out of love. She will also rub her head on my forehead in the morning when she wants us to get out of bed.

This is so sweet my cats do this also, sometimes my skin will get a little sore if they stay in one spot for a long time. Did you know that cats have healing agents in their saliva a lot of people are not aware of this fact. I know when my cats do this to me they are just trying to give their love back to me.

i agree with you that these things about licking that we get from our pets is their way of showing their love and appreciation for all that we have done for them. they will even increase their lickings when we just reach home from a trip that we undertake for the day. this is to tell us how glad they are that we are back home. i can always tell that the tendency of my dog will be to reach my face and lick it from there then to the hands and feet. well, i have learned to accept that this is the way my pets welcome me for returning home.

Your cat licks you and tries to clean you because she feels responsibility towards you and your baby. She feels that since she is so well taken care of that she should help you and your son stay clean as well. Most of our cats are not human lovable meaning that they will come and rub on you in their own terms. Only one of our cats can you call and it come to you and you be able to pet it and love on it.

cats do that. at home, our dog will do it better. i do not encourage my pets to do this to me. it will be easy to understand why pets do this to us. it is their way of showing endearment. thus, if they lick on somebody, that will be tantamount to telling the person how much the pet cat or dog loves and treasures the person. it is true that it is also their way of cleaning themselves. you must have noticed that they will always lick on those parts of their bodies which they want to be rid of unwanted dirt.

I have one cat that loves to lick me. She will lick my hand, arm, foot--anything she can reach. She loves to sit on the back of my lounge chair and lick my hair! I have my own personal beautician! I see cats grooming one another, so think when they lick us they are treating us like family!

She loves you and wants to show you that she wants to care for you like you care for her. my dog does the same thing. he licks my knee caps and my feet. Ick! But he does this because he really loves me and (possibly likes the smell of my sweaty feet eeewww!) wants to care for me as well. With your son she is saying, he is mine to care for too. I love him too.

At night time when my one cat Lucy is ready to lay down with me, she will lick my arms. She has been doing this since she was a kitten. I researched it before, and it said something about them showing love to you. Lucy only licks my arm or hands though. I don't think I could stand that sand paper tongue licking me for much more than that. LOL!
