Hello Everyone!A short time after I became a member of MyLot I started a discussion on Helen Keller. Well, this morning my son and I had to go to Tuscumbia where Helen Keller was born and we were just down the road from her home. So after we took care of the business we had I drove us on down the street and took this picture of her birthplace. I know I can only download one with this discussion but I took a couple of other shots of the grounds also. I just thought if any of you are interested in Helen Keller you might like to see this picture.
Have a great day!

Thanks for the nice picture. I started having more of an interest in Helen Keller last year shortly after the birth of my grandson. Tests showed that he was deaf and blind. She became our source of strength. If she could do it, so could we. It turns out that he is able to see but he is still deaf. We have many of her quotes on my grandson's website. My favorite quote of hers is...The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt within the heart.

That is so neat. I'm glad that you enjoy the picture. I'm so sorry that your grandson has these problems. But it is so wonderful to know that he has the help available so that he can accomplish anything that he wants to. :)
One Sunday about a month ago our pastor was talking about Helen Keller in his sermon and I still get shivers when I think about it. He said that Annie Sullivan had made the statement that she didn't know how she was going to get Helen to understand about God. But one day as she was making the sign in her hand she started talking abou God to her and Helen signed back to her "So that is who I have been talking to!!" Thank you Lord that even those who have hearing and seeing problems can still know Him and be accepted by Him.
I hope you have a blessed and wonderful day!! :)

Hi Terry!
It is a pretty big home and it still has the small house beside it where Annie Sullivan stayed with Helen when she first started working with her. I don't think anyone is living there now but I may be wrong. If I find out different I'll let you know. They have daily tours and there are some parts that visitors aren't allowed into so it is possible someone is living there. Another one of the ladies that responded to this asked me about tours so when I find out about those I'll try to find out if any family members live there too. :)

I love her story too. I have toured inside at least three times maybe more. I would like to go again some time. Every time I think about what all she went through and how she over came it I get chills. I'm glad you like the picture, I have just added the other ones to my profile a minute ago. :)

I'm so glad you like the Helen Keller picture. I am always moved when I go there to think about what she accomplished.
The new avatar is a picture that was taken of me and my daughter Amanda in the church library this past Sunday night. Amanda's friend was in there with us and wanted to take the picture, Ha! Ha! I was just sitting there looking at a different Bible when they came in. They are both helping out in Vacation Bible School this week.
Talk to you soon!!
