Any frugal tips for decorating a kid's bedroom.

I'm on a tight budget, when it comes to expenses, but I was hoping someone had a few ideas on ways to decorate a little girl's room without spending a lot of money. She likes pink and lavender and unicorns, if that helps. I was doing research online for kid's comforters and many cost up to $75, which is out of my price range. So, if you know where I could get some deals on kid's bedding, too, that would be great. Your thrifty ideas are much appreciated. Thanks.

you know, I did my kids rooms, and I found great images on the internet. We transferred them to the wall and then I let them help to paint them. They are proud that they could help (you may have to pretty their part up a bit, but don't tell them!) WITH unicorns, you could do a castle and pink clouds, and maybe a princess with a frog or something. It is pretty cheap, and fun too, don't forget the drop cloth............

What a sweet idea! She is going to love that. One of her favorite characters is the Princess Fiona from Shrek. She is going to giggle so much when she hears this idea.

If I were you I would jump on eBay and see what I could find, I bought some wonderful wall stickers on there for my daughters room and they only cost me $20 for 4 of them with postage and I priced them in the stores and they were $19.95 each! You can get some brilliant bargains on there if you are looking to do it cheaply I highly recommend it

I think they are called wall stickers, but if you look them up you may be able to get something to decorate the walls with and they look fantastic

I shop on Ebay all the time, so this would work out for me. Maybe I could find some of the odds and ends to match characters she loves. Thanks

what if you purchase a pink or lavender blanket and just make a lot of pillows? my daughter is 10 and likes tweety...we have gone to garage sales to build on her collection...gotten a wallpaper border at a discount place and just bought plain white sheets etc and a yellow blanket... also you might consider a blackboard in your child's room...that way your child can do what she wants on it! (you can purchase both magnetic paint and blackboard paint) hope this helps!!

That is a clever idea. I prefer doing craft type projects like that anyway. Saves lots of money and is more personalized, anyway. The black board paint idea is just what I was looking for. She is very creative, and won't believe that she can actually draw on her chalkboard wall. So many wonderful ideas. Thank you!

I made a blanket for my nephew all by myself! just knitted squares around 8" per 8", all in different matching colors and textures, and then sew them all together. It was quite fun, and he loves it!

Personally, I don't know why I didn't think of that one myself. I do lots of crochet, and love the granny square pattern. Normally I do big squares like you were takling about and whipstitch them together. Several years ago, before I had my daughter, I crocheted one giant bedspread and it took three weeks. Course a child's blanket wouldn't take so long. This is such an affordable and personalized idea. I am definitely going to use it. My daughter is going to adore a hand crocheted blanket by Mommy! Thanks for bringing up the idea. You're the best!!! :)

I know you hate one liners, ha ha ha, so I'll make it longer. You're welcome, I hope she really enjoys it! If you have any good crochet ideas, I would love to read them! I always do everything with two needles, because i'm pretty useless with crochet needles. any easy start for me? =)

How about walmart? I noticed the other day that they had all sorts of pink and purple stuff for little girls. I dont think the comforters where much more than $25
