I love traveling but I don't get to travel very much because of the budget constraints. I do own a lot of travel books though, I have some on Europe, Taiwan, Japan..etc. I tend to love those with personal experiences and lots of pictures, because by reading them I tend to feel that I am traveling too. What about you?

I really love to travel, but I too have budget constraints. I own a few travel books, mainly for the places that I do regularly visit. I find that travel books are overly expensive though, so I can't buy too much of them.

Yes, especially those Lonely Planet ones, but I just own one of those as it's given to be as a gift. I wouldn't buy if they are expensive or don't have enough pictures for me to imagine as well. I love reading them and pretend that I am on the roads sometimes!

Well I'm not really into travel books, never read any till date. I guess I would rather just travel. Travel doesn't have to take you to far away lands. What I do is, I look up all the possible place near my city and visit them one by one. You can take the entire list and sort them based on the travel time. Then, depending on how many holidays you have, you can visit the appropriate place. Often we run away on weekends and have lots of fun in little, uncrowded beautiful places surrounding our city. Chances are, if you are driving down, you might even discover some beautiful picnic spots on the way!

Yes, this is interesting. I live in a crowded city and I tend to think there is no much around me to see because I was born here and I take it for granted that I have seen them all. It would be very interesting if I switch my perspective a little and start exploring the places around me. Traveling is a feeling and I am sure I could have that feeling when I pretend to be a tourist here *laughs*!

I love traveling and I have a huge list of places I still would love to travel to. However I don't often get travel books since they have the possiblity to become outdated a year afte they are published or even sooner. I find the best thing to do is look up events or places to visit online or when I get to the city. It always helps to pick up a local newspaper or weekly that lists events or happenings around the area.

Nice reminder! That indeed is a really good idea. But I am a little weird *laughs*, I tend to collect travel books (both informative ones and personal experiences one). They do get outdated, but I enjoy reading them and feel like I am traveling mentally when I don't have enough resources to actually go travel.

what you say makes sense. expense is always something you have to think about when you intend to plan a trip. travel books are the second best choice you can make .in fact ,when you really go to a sinnery spot in person ,you will find you can enjoy more deeply if you had once read about the place in a book.

Yes, I would be like "oh! I have read this!" and then I would start comparing the real thing with the pictures in the travel book. Sometimes I just read the travel books at night and let my mind wandering around and pretend that I am traveling mentally. It's good fun to bring in happiness and relax the brain too!
