Most Americans live in the suburbs where schooks ,stores, movies, theaters, and even friends'houses can be many miles away.Yet ther is hardly any public transportation,so that many young people find it difficult to get around. Sometimes a parent,a friend or relative will drive them where they want to go ,or ,if it isn't too far, they can walk or bicycle.Hitchhiking ,However,is a common way ofsolving the transportation problem, even for relatively short distances to local teenagers going in the same direction they are.

Hitchhiking it's nice... and fun... About Americans... I always had admired their capacity to travel and to get out of their towns and driving for miles... It's true that for kids it's a little bit difficult, cos' they don't have cars... But for adults it's great... In our little country if you like 50Km from your town it's considered something out of the common...:)
