What are dreams?

I saw a dream yesterday where there was this beautiful middle aged lady who I have never seen in my life and she was smiling and talking to me. Interesting part of the dream is that the location where we were standing was also strange to me.
Scientists say that dreams are the images of the inner minds thinkings. But what is the explanation for this dream. Has my inner mind anything to do with the place and girl without my knowledge?

according to psychologists, dreams are simply the outworkings of our subconscious mind. However, i have another theory. As a psychic medium i pay close attention to my dreams and they are often used as a chanel for spirits to send messages to individuals who can not recive them any other way.
