Wouldnt it be great if we got rid of nations and used our talents to start a new country up, what would it be like, what about society and rules? What one rule from your country would you like to see in operation and what rules would you abolish?

If I were to have a say in the way a country was run, I would certainly want to get youngster interested in self-development and introduce them to the benefit of meditation. No nation is perfect, but with Zen having a strong influence in Japan, the country certainly has come a long way since the devastation they experienced at the end of the war. Tokyo, whilst densely populated is one the safest cities to walk around alone during the night. And then there's the pride the Japanes have in the products they have manufactured... :-) I would like to model a society based on self-awareness.

well i certainly have no argument about that. The street gangs round here however seem all too self aware, i think thats part of the problem

I would say "ego-aware" - the big "I am" and "look at me!" sort of thing. Self, now that is something else, for full awareness of Self would mean full awareness of the law of karma. I blogged this morning on something that came up in my meditation - "What am I giving when I am accepting? I am accepting others without judging them in any way, giving them space to be themselves. Receiving then, is giving." This I feel, is a giving that cannot come from ego full that is selfishness, awareness of Self is to lose Self in being at one with others. Then there is no attack without attacking the self and who, with such a profound realisation would want to do that?

well it sounds like a good idea like that but if you think about it why woudl it be better ? First who would set the new rules ? who would be the leader? how would he/she/they be chosen? As anywhere else people would have their own ideas about what's good or not and eventually some people will always disagree what will they do ? march? revolt? maybe try to drift off nad create their own new nation? unfortunately I don't think it would work out because not everybody want the same things ... don't you think ?
