What do you think of working wives?

I watch a TV shows this morning. A famous singer not allowed by her husband to perform her career anymore because he thinks that he can afford living for both of them. While singing is her life. When I was about to get married, I told my husband that I still want to go to work and he said it's OK. I think I'm lucky because there are still husbands that don't allow their wives to go to work or perform their careers, while I got my husband's OK, his understanding. The fact is that working or career sometimes are not simply to earn for living but for self esteem. There are people who still don't understand that. Getting married is about understanding and compromising, everything should be discussed and not just one sided. What do you think? Does your husband aloow you to go to work?
