Do scarecrows really work? We have a tiny little garden in our backyard. two (about) 3x5 rows. But today I have chased away a bunch of crows. DO they really get rid of them or is there another way?

Lion & Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz - This depicts the lion and scarecrow from the movie the "Wizard of Oz"...the scarecrow stands in the corn field and protects the crop...
I was raised in Iowa...we raised alot of corn...LOL We always used scarecrows...my Grandpa swore by them...I consequently always use one when I have a garden.... I do not know of any other way to keep the crows away... I think the crows believe that a person is watching the crop and might get them if they bother the crop....but having never been a crow...I can only guess...LMAO

We always took an old pair of Grandpa's overalls and stuffed them with straw that can be purchased from any local feed store...then remember to make a head out of an old pillowcase..(we used to use gunney sacks)....and be sure to put a hat on it...draw on a face....then take 2 boards and make a T...attach the scarecrow to this board with wire or rope...try not to make the binding real obvious.....then tie the arms ....stand a rake or hoe leaning against him.... They do work...I have seen it all my life....and it is a good family project making one...use your imagination...try to make it look like a real person..the hair can be yarn or an old wig.... Have fun...
