There are many names/labels/tags out there. Nerd, geek, chav, jock, emo, goth, grunger. I hear these everywhere and i don't know quite what they mean. i can't even tell the difference between half of them. I have tried to get people to explain to me, but i still don't understand. Could anyone out there please help me with my problem? Some of my friends get labled goths, emo, chavs and are out-raged by this. Does anyone else have a problem with being labled? and what do you think of the people who use these tags?

I can't explain the meaning of all those terms, but I will tell you what I think they say about the person who uses them. I feel they are insecure, and perhaps frightened people, who try to empower themselves by stereotyping others. Of course, sometimes such terms are used jokingly or teasingly, but it can also be a way to vent rage. At best, the person who uses such labels, is immature; but use of such terms can also mask a very hostile personality who is insensitive to the needs of others.

I think you are very right! The people that use these terms are just insecure and need to make fun of others to make them selves feel more whole. That is sad.

i can c what ur saying and i know alot of people who stereotype others viciously, but admitly i do do it to my friends *blushes* but only for a laugh. I don't know quite what they mean so i would never use them to hurt someone.
