What did you name your pets?

Our dog's name is Montana. I call her Tanna for short. She is a Siberian Huskey and Hubby wanted to name her after a state with a cold climate. The indoor cat's name is Naula. We just liked it. The outdoor cats are Snowbelle and Tabby. Those were picked because of their looks. The fish are named, Nemo, Rainbow, and Freedom. My son picked Nemo because he liked the movie (they are all Beta's). Rainbow is colorul and freedom is red and blue. What are the names of your pets and what kind of pet are they? If it is a special name how did you come up with it?

I named my dog Rufus, even though she is a girl. It's a funny story because I saw the movie Dogma, about 2 weeks before I got her, and I had no idea that I was getting her until she was placed in my arms, but while watching this movie I found the character Rufus played by Chris Rock to be especially amusing, and I had never heard that name before, so I said to my roommate who was watching the movie with me, "If I ever get a dog I will name it Rufus." Two weeks later I just happend to get her, and so her name is Rufus. I call her Roofie most of the time though. My cat's name is Smokey. I got him from a local shelter and at the time his name was Timbit, but I didn't like that name and I didn't think that he would appreciate being named after a food iten if he knew the difference. He is gray and fluffy and when I was a baby my fisrt teddy bear was named Smokey, so that's what I named my cat. So both of my fur-babies are namesakes, one for a funny character on a movie, and the other for a teddy bear. Hehehehe. Well it's better than bening named after food.

We have three dogs: Sassy, Princess, and Kuma. Sassy is the senior citizen of the bunch (14 years old). I got her when I was 13 and gave her that name because she would ignore everyone except for me. *LoL* Princess is my older daughter's dog. Her name happened because that's what you get when you let your three year old name a dog. *LoL* She was really into the Disney Princesses at the time, and EVERYTHING was princesses and crowns and pretty dresses. Kuma got his name because he looked like a brown bear when he was a puppy. The word "kuma" means "bear" in Japanese so it was fitting.

I had a dog, a rottweiler and his name was Baxter. He was the best dog I have ever had and I've had dogs since about 5 or 6 years old (I'm now 29). He used to be so gentle with all my family and friends. The only thing he did not have is a map in his head to let him come home. Whenever he got loose I had to find him around our area. But alas he is no longer with us now. I have a picture on my wall here where my computer is and am looking at him right now. It's actually been a while since I did that and thank wahmoftwo for making me think of what wonderful times we had together. Thanks. I now have a female rottweiler now, I hope to breed her and keep a male just like Baxter.

Lucy is my dog and I thought it suited her. She gets Lu and Lulu as well. I was reading poetry by Aussie poet A.B.(Banjo)Paterson when I was given Banjo and I wanted an Aussie name. He gets called Banj and Banjo Boy as well. Pickles is my goat and so called be cause he is always getting in a pickle. He is also called a silly billy (goat). LOL.

We have two dogs and a cat. Our lab mix is named Blackie. My husband wasn't very original in coming up with her name. He got her when she was just a pup, so it was long before we ever even met (she's almost 7 now). Our smaller dog is Trixie. That was the name they gave her in the Humane Society, but we considered changing it. Then the first night we had her she kept jumping in bed with us because she was afraid of the thunder. I told her she was a little trickster to get her way that easily, and we decided Trixie the Trixter fit her well. She became Trixie Wixie Woodle somewhere along the way. And my son has shortened it to just Woodie, so she answers to that really well now, too. My cat is named Trinitie. She was just a kitten when our neighbors found her. She was next to the local hosptial (Trinity Medical) so that's how she got her name. We changed the spelling since her two dog sisters have IE for the ending of their names.

I have a zoo of pets! I have a cat named Wilbur, a dog named Jake, a gerbil named Little Bit-who I should name Big Bit because she has grown since December of 2006, and nine hermit crabs. The crabs names are Eugene, Pearl, Buddy, Norfolk(like the city in Virginia), Auburn, Lani, Lily, Bill, and Hunter.

My dog is named Sassy Sue. When we got her I didn't know we were going to get a dog, and then we went and got her and they say you need to name them right away so they can get used to it. She is a cocker spaniel. I got online and looked for names. I wanted an unusal name. I wanted to name her Sasafras, and my husband said no. He wanted to name her sugar, but he had a sugar when he was married before and she was a cocker spaniel and looked just like the one we got. So I said how about Sassy. (I got it from Sassafras, then I added Sue. My husband's mother was named Sue and my aunt is named Sue. So we came up with Sassy Sue. We have some goldfish in our pond but we have not named them. Before Sassy Sue, we had my grandma's dogs about 5 years ago. One was Theo and my grandpa named him after Theo on the Cosby show. Theo was black with some white on him. Then they had duches, but they didn't name her, they got her from a neighbor and that was her name already.
