Is medical transcription feasible?

I am planning to take up a short course in medical transcription. I hear that it is a booming industry (in our country, at least) and I think that it would be great to join the "bandwagon" I do not have any background in medicine though but I think I can wing it. India, if I am not mistaken is leading in this field. Is MT really feasible?

I think it is very feasible and one could actually just stay at home and work there. There are training CD's available in the internet too which you can purchase as low as P500. It is per module or you could take an online training course. Here in Cebu,we have a school already that offers an online training at P3000 which is much cheaper. If you want to purchase MT training CD's or DVS. You could check this out this this link: http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/19846/Medical+Transcription+Training+CD+for+sale

Yes, that's one reason why I got interested because I could just work at home:P There is also a school offering basic training in MT but I haven't checked yet how much it would cost. Thanks for sharing the site.

yes, i think, its a good choice for country like ours. i have done one MT course a few years back but didn't pursue it further, since i found it pretty monotonous but that doesn't make it less advisable. i think, its pretty good for young ppl who can earn a lot. you donot have to learn mecidine for this, only good sense of english, which i know you have in plenty, will help. good luck!!
