Favorite sculpture

My favourite sculpture - The most famous early image of a human, a woman, is the so-called "Venus" of Willendorf, found in 1908 by the archaeologist Josef Szombathy in an Aurignacian loess deposit in a terrace about 30 meters above the Danube river near the town of Willendorf in Austria.

That is the venus of willendorf isn't it? well, I worked on some palaeolithic excavation sites in France during the 80's so it remembers me those years... Do you know Michelangelo Buonarroti "Prigioni" (could be translated "Prisoners" more or less)? They are not finished and they seem as strong giants that are desperately trying to free them from the rock they wer sculpted... Very impressive... i will try to find and upload a picture for you.

It's OK, I know what Venus de Milo looks like. It's quite famous. And a beautiful sculpture indeed.

Oh, this incense burner is one of my favourite, and I have more that I love, but I dont have the pix now, both made of stone and bronze, but I like abstract sculptures most.
