what makes you get a fever blister? and what do you do when you get one?

No its not just from fever. I get mine when I stress out really bad. I use Abreva even though it cost a nice penny it works pretty well. For the past 5 years I haven't had one and then the other day one just popped out. Mine are pretty big also. It has more then one blister in a cluster. I say I have about 10 right now. What do you guys use on yours that could maybe help me out with the itching and to make it go away faster?
