The conventional holidays - a relaxing break in a far away place has given way to adventure holidays .While the old people take a more relaxed approach to holidaying, the younger generation seeks adventurous holidays. It is quite natural for the youngsters to go for adventure tourism ,for conventional holidays do not satiate their needs.

I don't know about all this. Maybe you are right. I love taking vacations and it depends on how I feel when we are going to take a trip. I like to go to the mountains and relax but I also like to go to Atlantic city for a fast pass night of fun and gambling. I have never been into raftying or climbing rocks even when I was in my teens. Maybe that is the answer. If you like all those adventurous things when you are young you will continue to do them when you are older. If you liked laid back vacations when you were younger you will continue to take those kind of vacations. Maybe.

In the United States we call the relaxing time when you go someplace else a vacation. Totally getting away from the everyday chores. I like both the adventure and the relaxing ones.

Yep, that is how it always works too. Sometimes though, I really would like a very conventional holiday. I haven't had a holiday forever.

If I take an independent holiday I can choose a mixture of relaxation and adventure. Just relaxing on a beach would be boring. I like to go exploring with my snorkelling equipment on. I like to see the friendly fish, colourful coral and perhaps even a small shark sometimes. I love to go walking, like I did, up a mountain, in French Polynesia. The walk up there was exciting and the view over all the stunning beaches was delightful. Caving is another exciting activity. In Belize at the amazing ATM caves I had to swim and climb around in the dark, seeing amazing old Mayan pottery. In Australia I went on a gorge adventure, again this involved some difficult climbing after the relaxation of a journey in a canoe. I have done some fun boating activities, like riding down small rapids in the Czech Republic.

Yes, you're right. The natural aggression inside youngsters makes them want to go shallow water rafting, paragliding, trekking and camping to new places. It not only makes them feel energetic, but also helps keep the youth within.

I actually like o try to mix in a bit of both. The old stamina isn't what it once was, so if I have an adventure one day, I probably need some conventional lounging the day after that. Since I have kids, who are very active kids, there is no way I could plan a holiday without a good dollop of activity. They would mutiny and drive me and everyone else in earshot crazy in the process!
