What is your opinion about smoking in Public Places? Is smoking infront of elderly people is a disrespect towards them? If you quit smoking, How did you succeeded in quiting?

I try not to smoke when there are a lot of people unless they're all smokers too. I also try to avoid blowing smoke towards people, especially old people, children and pregnant women.

Smoking in front of any non-smoker is disrespectful. No one person should be forced to accept another person's habit that is involuntarily forced upon them. I remember as a child how I used to sit behind my dad in the car while he blew smoke unknowingly in my face. I believe the reason I smoked was that I developed a "need" for nicotine even as a second-hand smoker. I smoked for 15 years and have been quit for 2. What drove me to quit was the smell, it made my chest hurt, and it was getting expensive. I started with Nicorette lozenges, but in the end the real thing that helped my quit was the fact that I always asked myself if I really needed one and my answer was always no. That and a little stuborness helped me.
