Yea, i worked there. in the intimates department. i no longer work there, but i loved it. the discount was awesome, but i didnt like how you had to get your discount through their credit card...it just made me feel like i was pressured to have one, since they push them on all the customers.

Yeah I agree..Did you have to size women's bras? I could never do that. It's gross to me. I see the kind of women who shop in the IA department. Yucky.

I worked in housewares and bed linens. It's the only department that made sense to me. I don't understand clothing and what looks good on people. I'd rather tell people what works in their kitchen.

Just out of curiosity having worked in retail, how is the pay at Macy's and are their salespeople on commission?

Interesting. When I worked at another retailer selling big ticket items I could easily pull down $50-80 by selling one item alone. We had a similar thing for inhouse credit but it was $3 each if you got over 5 in a month. I rarely qualified for that because I was so busy pushing extended warranties that paid a good deal more. Of course I was working on mostly commission, makely an hourly rate several dollars less than minimum wage...until of course you add in the commission.

It also depends on what macys you are working and what union they have. I worked at one without a union. We never saw any commission. When I worked at one with a union we got plenty of commission until you reached a certain pay level then they kept uping your commission rate. So it sucks either way really. I found the one with the union treated their employees better. The managers couldn't walk all over you. And really you got away with alot more. Not saying that's a good thing but where as the one without the union made you do everything under the sun that wasn't in your job description, the unionized store let you sit at the counter and wait for people to come in because selling was the only thing in your union contract.

Well i was making 8.62 an hour and no you really dont get commission unless you work in fine jewlare or shoes and i think makeup not sure i worked in the home store and fine china and plus size womens clothing but i can say one cool thing about it is when you open credit cards you get cash up front they normally and game cards so for each one you would get like 1-5 dollars I loved it exspecialy if your good at opening credits like i was top scredit producer in 2005 every day i was bringing home 10 dollars oh and sometimes they would roll the dice that day i earned 30 bucks ya ya ya
