I have a cough that won't go away . It is tiring me out so bad because I am coughing all day and all night and even though I am taking a puffer , it doesn't seem to be helping . Usually when I get a cough after I have had the flu it will last months . Has this ever happened to you and how do you cope during this time ? Have you ever come across any usefull tips that will help ease the coughing so you can get a bit of rest at night ?

same with adnes, i'd go for drinking a lot of water and fruit juices. make sure that these liquids are with lukewarm water so that you won't cough more. make sure that you won't eat anything that can cause irritation in your throat.

I had a strange cough for a long time. I went to teh doctor and was perscribed some allergy medicine. I didn't think that was the cause so I went to a freind who was a naturopath. She suggested a variety of herbal and homeopathic remedies. It eventually went away. I'm not sure what, if anything cured it or if whatever it was just ran it's course.
If you are open to natural medicine, you could go to a healthfood store and look into trying some of those remedies. Good luck.

If your puffer is not helping you when it comes to your cough. Than I suggest getting your behind to the doctors. Let the doctor know that the puffer is not working anymore. Until than you can buy cough drops and suck on them. Try to avoid anything that will cause your cough to get worse. My mother in law will suck on candies....she said the sucking motion for some reason eases and stops her cough for a while. She lives with a chronic cough every day. The doctors don't know why she coughs. and she has never smoked a day in her life.

I went through several years that I would repeatedly get a cough a couple of times a year that wouldn't quit and just went on and on. It usually turned out to be bronchitis and had to have medication from the doctor to get rid of it.
