my shrink just gave me a prescription for wellbutrin. she said it will give me energy and help me lose weight. i know it helps a lot of people stop smoking, which is not my problem. being tired all the time is my problem. anyone know about this drug? what side effects did you experience? did you think the drug was a positve or negative thing in your life? please tell me about your experiences with it - i'm a little nervous about taking it cuz i take several other drugs and don't want an interaction.

Yes, I have and still do take Wellbutrin. At first I experienced headaches, nausea, some sleeplessness and a decrease in appetite. After about a month it kicked in and made me feel better. Always, always tell your doctor all other medications you are taking. After awhile the Wellbutrin didn't work so well for me anymore. I was diagnosed with an inherited condition causing anxiety and depression. I next tried Zoloft, not many side affects, though you always feel worse before you feel better. Zoloft worked wonders for my depression. If the side affects are too much though, don't let your doctorr talk you into continuing to take it. Only you know how much you can take. Good luck and if the depression is situational, not inherited a good counselor can really help.

I was going to talk to my doctor about it at the next visit. I am currently on a different antidepressent, which is making me gain weight among other side effects. My friend is on wellbutrin and said it works great, and is helping her lose weight.

A family member takes it & yes it does give them energy, but it made them gain the weight, not lose it.
