How many of you have read this book? It has helped me a great deal in understanding and accepting men as they are. And I think men should also read it.

I think it also helps people accept the status quo of things that are culturally driven, that have nothing to do with genetics. I think this book also does a lot to perpetuate those things in making them sound like they are all hard wired. I put it up there with bridal magazines and the articles in Playboy. There might be some truth in there but its disguised in assumption.

Yes, that's true. It's just like when you know that you're not supposed to scrub your teflon covered pot then you wouldn't do it because you well know that it will scratch the surface. I think we should treat our relationship like that.

I have not read the book. I recognize that it's a good concept, and I know that men and women communicate differently, etc. I think it's important to understand that at home and in the work place. However, I think the author of the book is a bit of a sham. he doens't really have a serious education (but I think he claims to have a PhD, but doesn't really have one at an accredited university) so I'm not going to give him my money. Not that the concept isn't a good one to understand, I think there are different venues to get the same information without feeding someone who makes his money spouting a popularist ideal.

That's a shame really, I heard about it but I really think his book is worth reading. anyway, it's your choice. No one can really push you to do something you don't want. besides, I think you got a good principle. Best regards! :-D

I have not read it yet. It's lying around somewhere in this house. Shame on me. The book is actually on my to-be-read list. Hopefully I will get to it by the end of this year. I heard marvellous things about it. I guess we should all attempt to understand men better. It can only enrich our relationships. Geez, maybe one day I'll actually have a relationship. LOL.

i have not read it yet. most probably i will never be able to read it at all. i am already hard of reading and thus hardly reads nowadays, if at all. but i can surmise why it says that men are from mars and women are from venus. mars is perceived to be a symbol of strength and manhood while, women are supposed to stand for beauty and womanhood.

Well, it's more than just the symbols of strength and beauty. It's deeper than that. It's how men and women are differently wired and that stuff.

No, I haven't read that book, but I have read some excerpts from the book, "Why women can't read maps and men can't listen". It makes us understand that there are some basic differences between the thinking patterns and special abilities of men and women. It talks about some fundamental characteristics like getting jealous, listening carefully to other person's talk, multitasking in day to day work, making directions from a map etc. Sometimes women have male characteristics and men have female characteristic, its pretty much normal to be that way.

It's pretty normal but the basic yet major differences in man and woman is not normally understood and therefore hard to accept. Anyway, I had fun reading that book because I saw myself in the situations illustrated by John Gray.
