Writers: Do You Brainstorm in Your Journal?

I love writing in journals, talking about journals and everything else that has to do with journals. :) Do you use your journal to brainstorm writing projects or do you do it in a separate notebook. For personal writing projects I hope to progress into something more, I brainstorm in my journal. For writing projects I have an assignment for or know I can sell somewhere, I brainstorm in my various writing notebooks.

I am a novelist and I also write fan fiction, so I write some of my ideas in my journal. I will take an idea and go with it, and then maybe have my character take a different route. Sometimes I will start the next idea in my journal. For instance, I am writing a Christian fantasy novel, and I was debating what would happen if the character gets back to where he left from before going on this strange world. I do not have a writing notebook, as I have bad wrists and can only write for so long before my hand aches and my write looks like scribble. I do most of my articles on my computer and have a folder for it.

I have a separate book for my every day journaling. A separate book for each of the girls journal of the funny things they have said and their accomplishments. I have a prayer journal and a gratitude journal. My writing is done in separate notebooks that are all over the place. Notes on future stories are written in a 3-ring binder.
