questions about online stores???????????

Hello, I have been wanting to start an ebay store, but I have sold on ebay several times and know that the fees are too high. I would love to open up an online resale shop, but haven't the slightest clue on how to get started, does anyone have an online store out there besides through ebay? How do you do with it? How did you get started?
