I'm going to be doing some interior painting this weekend and it's been a while since I have painted indoors. So I am looking for some tips or tricks to help things go well.
Do you like brushed or rollers? Did you find the blue painters tape helpful? Do you have a particular finish that you like better?
Please share any tips or lessons learned that would make things go more smoothly.
Thanks!

I do agree with the other poster that rollers are much faster and easier. You don't have to worry about streaking with it. I happen to love a tool you can get at most paint areas, it has a square flat surface and wheels on one side, it's designed to do edges and it really makes it easier. I do those first, like around the cieling, and then I use the rollers. I find I don't have to tape as much. Now for trim a brush is often needed but I prefer the sponge type, less streaking and no bristle marks.
Well I prefer semi-gloss for the most part. It seems to work the best and wears well.

I would say either use rollers or rent a paint sprayer from your local Home Depot or something. Paint brushes are great for getting hard to reach areas, but I find that they don't apply the paint as evenly or as quickly as the rollers do. I would suggest using a craft sponge brush for smaller areas over a paint brush.
Get an "edger." Basically those are those things with the wheels that are made for doing edges. Becareful not to get pain on the wheels though and also use a bit of painter's tape for the areas (like corners) that you think is going to give you trouble. You'll be amazed where paint can end up if you are not carful.
I would also suggest using paint tray liners. I know it creates more waste this way, but then you don't have to keep cleaning out the tray each time you paint. Oh yes, and don't be shy about using tarps to protect your floor.
As long as you don't rush it, you should be fine and won't make too much of a mess. Good luck!

I'm not sure if blue painter's tape is used for this, but taping around door frames and switches is a good way of ensuring that the paint stays 'within the lines'.
It's very neat when you tear off the tape. Also useful for corners and wherever you need to paint in straight lines.
I think rollers are much better if you are painting a largish area. They also give a more consistent texture!
