Everyone wants to be right all the time, exclusively.

People are funny, you know. We all are guilty, and don't try to tell me that you are not. We need to be right. We hate to be wrong. We hate to admit that there is more than one way to do something. If our moms taught us the right way to mix a meatloaf or a cookie dough was with our fingers we want to do it only that way. We want to do it that way even if we gross out our neighbor who insists on using a wooden spoon, or his neighbor who uses an automatic mixer. I bank at the ATM often. I use telephone banking. My husband insists the phone system doesn't have the latest neighborhood gossip, and the computer apparently doesn't like him. It sees him coming, he claims and falls down with a virus immediately. I wouldn't be caught dead without my computer but I can keep a full set of accounting records from opening through taxes by hand if I have to. I just don't choose to. I believe in flexibility. I believe there is always another way to do something if you can't do it the first way tried. Why are people so stuck in their ways? Not just old people. Try to get a twenty year old to learn checkbook balancing by hand!

How true that is- I often find myself thinking at times- There is only 2 ways- My way and the wrong way- lol.. no really- I have to stop myself at times- and think there are alot of ways to get something completed- To each their own- I learn this nightly looking at my daughters homework- especially math! She gets a problem- and figures it out in this long drawn out way- I laugh and say- try this and show her a simple way (that we learned back in school) she insists she has to do it the other way- my way is wrong- lol- we come to the same answer each time- ok well sometimes she is incorrect (she is 10).. so even with the way kids learn now compared to us- there are more ways than 1 to do everything!

Kids are being taught new ways to do math, it just amazes me. It's long and drawn out. People complain because the world is getting less and less efficient. When you watch the kids working things out the new way, you don't need to ask why this is anymore!

lol. well said. im afraid im one of those flexible ones. if i know im right for a sworn fact, then i just challenge the other person to prove it. but that rarely happens that i get into such a situation. if my hubby disagree with me i just let it go. no use reasoning with a man. when in rome,do as the romans do...

People in myLot like us are very dangerous. We're supposed to be here to share ideas and opinions, not coerce people into believing our way because it's right. LOL.
