Have you ever experienced physical, psychological and other changes when your family is away from you? My family flew back to home country because of some medical issues two weeks before I joined Mylot. Ever since they left, I have experienced many changes. I have lost 6 kg of weight. I don't feel like eating...It's really boring while it was a delight in their presence. I am sleepless, I have a hard time sleeping. since they left, I am awake for an average of about 30-32 hours before I can get a sleep, topping at about 50-51 hours some weeks back. I don't feel like doing anything, Mylot is a good pass time and some times friends but just on weekend. Otherwise, life is so boring without them. What about you? have you been away from family? did you notice any change, physical, emotional or anything?

This is a very peculiar experience but this is exactly what happened to me about a month ago when my wife and three kids left for her home province and I was left alone here in the my city. I lost about 5 kilos and I think it is because I was able to eat less but more nutritious food. When my kids are here I am forced to prepare the foods they want like chicken, pork and beef. Like for breakfast, they would eat hotdogs or eggs, while when I was alone, I would eat only oatmeal. For lunch and dinner, I would eat fish and vegetables only. But above all I think it's because I missed them and I had less appetite to eat.

Well, it seems that we are in the same boat, piropos!:-) It seems that I used to eat all the time when my wife was here. When she was pregnant last year, I did most of the cooking and she was courteous enough to eat my tasteless cooking:-) but before that we did it in turns and she always cooked much better than me. It appears that when one is used to enjoy meal with partner then food looses it's taste when one eats without partner. Wish that your family return soon, Best of luck, piropos!:-)

Being far away from family it might be helpful to think about the issues involved in dealing with a crisis situation ahead of time. Certainly the hope is that nothing difficult will happen especially while you are separated from your family. However, it is also true that crisis situations often provide an opportunity to examine your life and to find out whether you have 'unfinished business ' with someone and/ or whether your priorities are in order, etc...

Would you please clear your oint about 'crisis situation' and 'unfinished business', I may be taking them out of context so just want to be cleared. Thanks for responding and your views, asmurthy!:-)

I feel a lot bored when my parents are away..! No matter when they are here they bugg a lot !! Always intrupting, teasing and getting angry on us..! And telling us what to do and what not to do..! Its kind of a dictatorship when parents are here..! WE must feel happy when they are away but inspite of that we feel bpred as we are soo used too of their habit of getting angry on us..! Wierd..!

It's really amazing to see that one gets bored in absence of somebody who is irritating. It shows me that how complex human nature is, how blood plays a role in our likings and disliking. You get bored may be because of inherent love, that though doesn't come to surface but lies deep in your heart or subconscious, what do you think? I may be wrong about it, so enlighten me what do you make of it, or what is the reason you think lies in that feeling? Thanks for responding, stella1989! I appreciate:-)

My partner is out of town several days a month to visit aged parents. I usually don't go along as it is just to tiring for me. I also have trouble sleeping. I wish I did lose my appetite, but I want to eat all the time, especially junk food. So I am up most of the night eating! I watch t.v. some, am on the computer a lot, read lots. Sometimes I will take myself out to a park or out for a meal. I'm not able to go many places that require walking when I am alone. I have to use the wheelchair for long "walks" and it is too hard to manage by myself. On the other hand, I enjoy having the house to myself. I am more likely to do housework when I'm alone and I do more art work when I'm alone. So, while I sometimes feel lonely, I also feel very free to do and be whatever.

It's nice that you take it in a positive way too, youdontsay! finding time for your artistic talents and other jobs. I too feel much free (may be too much free to enjoy freedom) time when they are away, but time slows down. The effects I mentioned are just automatic and un called for. I can understand my appetite problem but sleeplessness is just out of my understanding. Thanks for responding, youdontsay!:-)
