Straight or Curly, what kind of hair do you have?

I have really, really curly hair...Which makes it so hard for me to mailntain! Eversince I can remember alot of people has taken interest in my hair, because it is unbelievably curly, but I hate it! I don't do anything with my hair, I just slick it back and tie it everyday....It is so hard especially when it's dry, it puffs out and at times seem too heavy for me to handle. I often get headaches and the only way to relieve some pressure is for me to wash my hair....thats how bad it is! I wish that I could have straight hair, so that I would be more inclined to go the beauty salon and style it.I have tried to get a "straight perm" twice before, but it last for only three days before it frizzes up and begins to curl up again."I give up!" All three of my kids take after my hair, which is pretty funny, given that none of them look like me...lol...I hope that they don't feel the burden of such cruly hair in the long run. I think their hair is really beautiful as do so many other people, I just hope they have a easier time accepting and maintaining it in the future. How about you, what kind of hair do you have? Is it easy for you to style and maintain, or does it make seem like a burden to you?

I have curly hair. I used to hate it when I was a kid and used to envy all my friends who seemed to have straight, minimum maintenance hair. I used to look myself in the mirror and make sure I looked alright from every angle for like almost an hour before I decided it was alright to let the world see me when I was a kid.lol

My hair is not curly, but they are straight. Usually I dont like curly hair, but I love the hair style of one of my friend, even though his hair is curly. Straight hairs are very easy to manage, I guess. If you are blessed with a bouncing hair, then you will feel fresh the whole day.

Mine is really straight & thin, I find I can do pretty much anything with it, but curls do not stay in my hair for a long time, with out a lot and I mean a lot of hairspray.

If I want my hair to be presentable for atleast an hour, I basically have to pour on atleast a tub of gel!

the best is to use a lot of masks for hair and balms, reduse these gels and hair sprays - healthier hair will look better than hair that have a lot of spray ar gel.... good luck !!!!! :)

You are not alone liyan97. I have curly hair too! Same goes to my husband. Both my sons have curly hair. I understand how you feel, curly and frizzy. My mom is so sweet telling me that U do not have to perm to get a curly hair. Similary, I hate it. The first time when I rebond my hair, it curl back after 3 days. I gave up. I tried after a year later together with my best friend who has curly hair too! I am glad that this salon that I give a thumb up, it is almost a year now, it still straight. Why I get my hair rebond? Reason is simple, easy to manage.

I have curly hair too. I use to hate it when I was younger and tried to iron it. Ha Ha that didnt work out so good.LOL A good way to get the friz out is set your hair. Get some electric curlers and use the big size curlers. But most of time I just let it dry natural and its right in style. Use alittle hair gel squeeze it in your hair to keep the hold. And good luck. I know everyone says oh your so lucky to have that curly hair. I know I get it too.LOL

Sorry to say but you will just have to learn to live with it. Nothing that I have ever found will make it straight. And believe me I have tried it all...Ironing it only lasted for a few hours and even a shorter time if the humidity was high. We think we are cursed and people with straight thin hair think we are lucky to have such a full head of hair. I started wearing my hair very short to get rid of the headaches it caused. We sure do save a lot of money though when it comes right down to it. We don't have to pay for perms. :-)

I have very very very straight hair. I wish it was at least wavy but it is just flat. It will usually curl well with an iron but u got to load on the hairspray or it wont last and it will be flat again lol. The other problem i have with it is it is very oily so i have to wash it everyday sometimes twice a day in the summer heat just to keep it clean.

My hair is too dry! I wish that it could have atleast an ounce of oil in it, that way it wouldn't frizz up too much.

It's me - My new hair style.
I have wavey hair you can see on my avatar, and before I'm also wishing to have straight hair. When I was on my teens I was very long and healthy. But I did not mantain to be healthy because when I got pregnant I thnik I lost many vitamins to maintain it. Bus now the new trend is in I try to go to the beaty salon and finally It was straight I rebond it every 6 months and it's nice.

My hair is wavy and VERY thick. I constantly have it blow dried or straightened or else with the South Florida humidity I'd look like a poodle. Lol! I don't like it, I also wish it were straight and thinner so I could manage it easier and not have to put up with so much just to get it to look presentable. It's practically a fact that most girls prefer the opposite of their hair. If you've got curly, you prefer straight and straight prefer curly. WHY is that?! Hah. I'm just thankful that it's at least wavy and not full on curly, because really thick, curly hair is so hard to tame! So I feel you a little. Sometimes I find myself envying bald men. LOL.

It's truley sad that I have to use the iron in order to straighten my hair for atleast two hours...lol...I really hate it! My mom always says that I should embrace it, because GOD gave it to me, but I often wonder if he gave it to me a form of punishment...lol..

I have a long black straight hair, it seems like no problem for me except for sometimes a hair fall, my friend has a curly hair too but not so curly as you describe yours, what she do to maintain her hair is she yearly had her hair rebonded, it didnt cost too much and she did that once a year, her hair now is straight, why dont you try to visit a salon that you think you can trust your hair and ask them how much your hair will cost if you make it rebond. Rebonding your hair makes it straight.

My hair is relatively straight, but I still use a straightening iron on a daily basis to completely flatten it. If I were to grow my hair longer, I have a feeling it would become wavy and curly; my sister used to have long hair, and it would start curling toward the bottom half. Now both my sister and I have our hair shoulder-length (though mine's a bit shorter than that), and it's straight enough to control. So... maybe a haircut would make your hair easier to maintain? Just a suggestion. Otherwise maybe you can start using a straightening iron (and moisturizing shampoo/conditioner to balance out the dryness).

Thanx for the advice, but "a haircut?". Honestly aften ten years of not cutting my hair, it has finally reached my lower back! Only when it is wet that you can see the actuall length but when it's dry and I let it go, my family often makes fun of me because they think that my hair just hasn't grown in the past ten years....lol...I do use contitioner....wait...let me rephrase that, "I HAVE TO USE CONDITIONER!" Although it makes my hair soft, it does nothing to the puffiness. But thanx again for the advice!

my hair, well, they're pretty heavy and jet black, but neither too curly, nor that straight. it lies somewhere in the middle. they are straight from the root, but they seem to sort of give a wavy sort of a structure as they reach out. when they reach the end, they curl around in the utmost way. so it's kinda good.

i have the weirdest kind of wavy hair you could think of. it waves near the top of my head, goes straight two inches down, then waves again. i dont like looking at it so i go for relaxing treatments every 6 months or so, just to make my hair look normal. right now i'm thinking of relaxing my hair again, since i'm seeing waves at every turn haha!
