Real pictures of yourself

I've just been asked by someone why I don't have pictures of myself on my MySpace profile or even here for that matter. My reason is that I don't know most of the people I correspond with over the internet. They are complete strangers. I just don't want to have my picture everywhere. And no it's not because I'm hiding something or I'm hidesously ugly or whatever. Just personal preference. How do you feel about having pictures of you on the internet for complete strangers to view?

I have photos on my blog. I think it makes it a little more personal. But, it needs to be up to each person to make their own decision about it.

I made myself an avatar to represent my personality. I do not know the people here personally, and perhaps someone here would recognize me because he or she lives in my neighborhood, or has known me I am good looking but I am not skinny nor tall. I also do not want people to associate my photograph with my personality. For instance,if I had red hair that stuck out in braids and buck teeth, and I called myself a very ladylike name, and was interested in fine dining, etc. the person looking at the photo would not believe it. And as I look younger than my age, someone seeing my picture would assume I am immature and ignorant of serious matters. Therefore to avoid such assumptions, I do not put my photo so the readers can know what I look like. Beside they might get jealous.
