Ok everyone i need a little help on what to do. my family has been looking for a van. We did find one that's $3500 and i don't know if i should buy it. Here's why i'm asking for a little help on what to do. We still have house taxes to pay out of our income tax refunds and a few other bills. Now we need to pay the taxes or the city that we live in will take our house away. But for a family of 6 (my 4 children, my husband and myself) and i have a baby on the way we have a car that sits 5. My husband decided at the last minute to change my price range on this van that we are looking at because of this. He told me to offer $2900 for it when the people that are selling it wanted $5000 to begin with. I feel so helpless over this and every time that me and my husband talk about this i get very upset and start crying because i feel that this is the cheepest that we would have to pay for a van and if we don't take it i maynot find anything cheeper that this. The van is a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan if anyone is intrested in the specks then that me know. So if it came right down to it what would you do? Would you go ahead and buy the van and pay what could be paid on the house taxes or would you keep looking for a nice van?

With the expenses you have coming up, I would go with a cheap, but reliable van. You don't want to buy something cheap and then it have to be in the repair shop all the time. To me a 1999 Dodge Van Caravan sounds fine. have you looked it up on kellybluebook.com ? that will tell you a lot about it and what it's worth. My own truck is a '92 toyota and I've had no trouble with it in the past 4 years, including a cross-country road trip.

Ok my husband said the same thing and his father looked it up online and it said that it was worth the $3500 that i got them to drop it down to but my hubby wants me to talk to them and have it dropped down lower. Now i've never haggeled befor so i'm clueless on this so i asked him to do it and he wont. I'm at a loss. I don't want to ripped off but yet i don't want to rip them off on the van either.

If this van is needed to get to work to earn money to pay the bills the if the seller is willing to negotiate then do so. Careful that you do not insult the gentleman since he has alread set a price. Since you have taxes to pay that is a bugger. Aren't they in your mortgage. If you like me was fortunate to own the property outright then you can make payments on said taxes. Communication is key. People are usually willing to work with people when they have only so much money. Beware of penalties since those are the bills that you should be paying. Again I do not know if this van is to be used for going to work so as to be able to pay bills that would be the big factor in my decision. Good luck with this. I know when you have 10 and owe 25 it can be very difficult.
