What If Humans are a Virus?

The HIV virus. - The hiv virus

Lets think about this, if a virus is a disease that infects a host, and the earth is our host... since the beginning of the arrival of the first human....all we have been doing is multiplying and destroying natural resources.... If their are other worlds out there somewhere and other forms of intelligent life do you think they would see us as a virus? Do you see humans as this type of life form?

It's a very interesting topic, Angelshispers, I must say. I am not sure if I can be totally serious or wholy imaginative while responding to this question. I think a mixture would work:-) From the satistics and facts around us, from accumulating green house gases, disappearing forests, animal and plant extinctions, development of more and more lethal weapons of mass destruction, and not to mention our general moral and ethical dacadence, hate, lust, power hunger, humiliation, increasing crimes etc. all that suggests that you very rightly termed humans as being possibly virus. It's painful to see that we are digging graves for ourselves. We are being unthankful for what GOD/gods or nature has offered to us. Nature has lent us resources for the time we live and we give these resources back in a condition that they are lesser useful to be lent further. So, yes we have been and are probably virus. But then, I have hope; that as we realize that how negatively we have been treating earth and our environment, we may develop a global guilt of a constructive type that which motivate us to mend what wrong we have done. I have hope that we can at least reduce our share of negative impact, and than improve our positive share not only by ourselves but also by educating our children about more healthy ways of life. and then they will take the lead. My response may have been incoherent, but I thank you for the opportunity to express myself.

Kamran, incoherent I think not, your comment is truly one of intelligence. You mentioned the extinctions of plants I wonder here how many "cures" for devastating illness we have already annihilated with the human virus?

I too wonder if we can 'cure', this illness caused by human virus! to an extent that we can revert back to original healthy state and reverse all, already done damage. In fact we probably have already done some amputations in the form of animal and plant extinctions and unless we pay for the damage and invest in technology to get them back, I am sure we can't redevelop these amputated parts. Some of these amputations seem a natural process but there are some, for sure, which are caused by human virus. I am hopeful, however, that with awareness, sincerity and concerted efforts we can slow up this process and then we can use time to think of all possible cures and remedies. We ought realize, however, that, though we may not be at a stage of total destruction yet, but we may be approaching threshold point sooner than we think it may arrive after which any efforts may be too late for any "cure".

That's an interesting idea, a scary thought too what if another race of beings did see us this way wanted to take over the planet and sprayed us all with human killer? We probably wouldn't be welcoming to new life if it arrived, you can imagine the ET type scenario's unfolding, and when the rest of the race saw that they would surely see as hostile and destructive and want to wipe us out.

Great thinking, in a way we could say that we are actually acting like a virus quoting of what you said that since the early history, human had been destroying the Earth. But if you read bible those other intelligent persons like angels up above never thought like that, in fact one of them who is rank first among all angels came down here to offer his life for us. Now that act can justify that in their eyes we are not a virus but also a victim of more powerful creature like them. Someone is manipulating human since our first parent turned their back on GOD. It was Satan and his demons nevertheless.

I used to watch those old bad science fiction movies where the astronauts landed on a planet and suddenly one was swallowed by the earth, another attacked by a strange type of tree until they learned "the planet is alive!!!!!" Then they try to leave the planet because it will eat them. Were you able to go out this morning? Did a deep hole open up and swallow you? Well no. First man was created by God and God does not make mistake. Man was told to be fruitful and multiply. The Earth in the beginning was a beautiful place with a semi tropical climate with a band of water where the Van Alan belt is now. We were infected by sin, not because we decided to throw banana peels instead of burying them or cutting up trees and burning wood, etc. but because Adam and Eve disobeyed God. And this sin would have affected beings on other worlds as well and they would probably think evil things anyway. I would never ever think of making sure no one has any children as it appears you are bent and if you already have one or more, you are a hypocrite. So change your ideas about depopulation.

Gulp...ummmmm I am a hypocrite? I am interested in how you came to that conclusion. How did I say anything about depopulation? How in the world did the fact that I have children come into play here? I think you need to reread my post, at best I meant for this to be an imaginative discussion. I am not bent on anything certainly not children of the future being born.. In fact I believe the young generation of my grandchildren are the hope for this world we live in... So please tell me how I am being hypocritical?

I think you have to wonder sometimes if people who respond to discussions read anythng beyond the title of a post? The unusual thing is the length of the reply. I didn't come to any of these conclusions, AW. By the way I wonder if you ever read mr Klondykes movie awards, you got a mention.

oh yea,I have always thought of the human race like that.I don't know if you are familiar with the movie"When worlds collide". It's about a small group of people who survived the earths' destruction by escaping in a rocket ship to the new plantet .I remember as I was watching them disembarki was thinking "another world for the human race to destroy"

absolutely..we are an organic monster virus sucking like a gigantic parasite, on all the things that nature given to us..But we are different from the micro virus , that is,we are capable of self-control..unlike the virus in our body which has only one objective-multipy and destroy.

Kind of more like parasties. In any case another race from out in space would view us as violent and uncaring about the lesser amongst us. They would see how we have exploited and did not tend to the needs of the planet which is the only one where we can livel. Who would be considered the more intelligent?

First that should have been parasites. oops Second I am a lady not a dude. Also in finality I am one to study that which affects us and in effect know the enemy so I could keep my family and myself healthier. Neat to see the other responders.

A virus or a parasite does not kill each other and human kind does. I think that is the difference allthough it is not very positive for humans

I have often thought that, the earth is an organ and the universe is the body. We are nothing but the equivilent of a microscopic plague. If there is life out there, I imagine unless it is like us, it wouldn't be too impressed with what we have done to our host, Mother Earth.

LMAO pigeon.. I started to say earlier in a post here I see the earth, as a lung sometimes that is struggling to breath, and the heart beat of the universe doing its best to keep it alive, the arteries growing more congested every day by the stress the virus is having on the planet...But I thought better of it, It might be a statement that might be for fetched... Thanks for opening that door for me.. I am glad to know I am not the only one that thinks these kind of thoughts.

What if other form of intelligent life would see the other form of intelligent life(that you mentioned) as a virus... and so on:P Yes we could be viruses that eats other viruses that eats other viruses... and all this it's defined by an axiom "the strongest survives"... :)

I think you have watched a lot the movie matrix, because it is that the agent smith told to Morpheus on the the movie when they have in the building, I have see that movie and love it, I think I would agree with that thought because, it is exactly that the human to do around the whole world, they only eat all and when there is not more to kill or eat they move to another place, I think when you say other forms of intelligence life you are meaning the machines with artificial intelligence, I think would happened if the human building a machine really intelligent it would think that human are parasite and a virus for the world.
