Honestly, I felt pressured. I mean, I have to aim high too but then the problem is, I might experience those discriminations and they might be too high for me to reach...so sad...have you experience this?

Absolutely. I could certainly relate to what you're currently feeling. I know that it seems very tough to compete with the best of the best or cream of the cream, if you will, but sooner, believe me, everything will just fall into its proper place. Admittedly, pressure is inevitable, especially if you're a true achiever who is competing with your fellow achievers, but don't let it get the best of you; a little of it would suffice. I feel that in order for you to easily cope with your new section, though, you must try to prepare yourself well, condition your mind, and never fail to believe in yourself. In order for you to survive, if not excel, in your current section, good preparation, I feel, is perhaps key, since the challenges, specifically academic, which you would be facing, would surely be something greater than what you've encountered before. For instance, apart from your physical exercises (assuming you do such), you could do mental aerobics or exercises daily, if you haven't been doing such yet, if only to ensure that your brain is always competitively fit. If you would be able to prepare yourself well for each of your classes, I feel that you would probably not have a hard time during the class itself and you may even be surprised to find yourself enjoying it. I feel that conditioning your mind is also vital to perform well in your new section. Think of your mind as a fertile garden of some sort, where you could plant whatever you want and such would naturally be what you would reap. So, in other words, if you'll plant powerfully positive ideas in your mind, which would help you in achieving your maximum potential, then those are what you would likely reap and those are what would likely manifest or show in the real world. Also, you do not have to think of your classmates as your adversaries because, really, your greatest rival is only yourself. Clearly, thus, to perhaps perform well in your new section, I feel that you must positively condition your beautiful mind. Unwaveringly believing in yourself and your vast capabilities is likewise highly significant in being the best student or individual you could possibly be. Indeed, there would be naysayers or detractors, who would try to discriminate you and pull you down like deceitful crabs, but if you'll firmly believe in yourself and in what you could do, they would just eat their words, in the end. Never yield or bow down to the whims or destructive criticisms of others, especially those who only want to bring you down for some strangely sinister purpose only known by them. However, I feel that you should learn to distinguish constructive from destructive criticisms and learn to accept the former, since it could really help you in further improving yourself. I hope my 2 cents could be of valuable help in your new journey. Just have fun and good luck, lonely_f16!

First of all let me congratulate you on being put in a higher class. Your teacher must have seen a lot of potential in you to put you there. Yes you might experience some discriminations, but the n you might not ether. The only way you will know if the expectations are too high is to try them. You might have to study a little harder but you can do it or you teacher would not have put you there. Just do your best.

Hey Lonely, why do you take this teacher's step in negative way ? Be positive dear. I think you are lucky fellow as you have been placed with best students. You have now opportunity to do the best than previous one in class. Whenever you will find yourself behind in class, you will make more intensive effrots to go ahead at least few of the students. So I congratulate you on this change. Be positive always. Take the challenge/risk in life to be successful. Otherwise you will live a normal life only as others living. To be on top needs round the clock efforts and you have enough energy to do that. Start from day one and accept challenge from student in class.

The same thing happened to me when I was in High School. My class adviser makes alot of effort just to transfer me to one of the best section. Before doing that, my teacher talk to me. She wanted to help me improve more the knowledge I have not because I'm her favorite student but because I excel in our class. I never wanted to transfer but I have no choice but to proceed with that section. During my first day, my old classmates accompany me with my new room. I'm afraid and shy to enter but they advise me to do so or else I'll be absent. It's really hard to adjust, being a part of a higher section makes me feel so nervous. I'm afraid of their expectations and criticism. After some time I meet new friends, those who are nice and easy to be with. The competition in our class is really tight and I've seen people around who works well than me. Congratulations! You have been chosen to become a part of the best sections in your school. Give all your best and show your classmates that you deserve it. Goodluck!

thanks for replying and although I'm happy, I'm a bit skeptical about it...it's because I might feel many more emotions and comparisons..

you should be proud of yourself!! not all students can go to a start section. be proud because you are blessed. you have a responsibility to study well, so that younger students in you school will set you as good example. challenge yourself. education is the best inheritance you will ever have in life, so enjoy it. study well.!!
